    Hello,

Considering all the details given above in your query, the only concern is your GRE score.

Your IELTS score will meet the admission requirements all Universities provided you have 6.0 band in all the sections. Work experience will further boost your admission chances if it has been relevant to the academic background.

Coming over to the choice of Universities, Wichita State University and Wright State University seem to be competitive.

Other than this you hold good chances of admissions across other Universities.

In fact there are a couple of Universities which are not very good choice for engineering programs. Considering that you would be looking forward for some some good OPT and full time opportunities coming to your part, I can suggest you some Universities which are good engineering programs in specific.

    1. Northern Illinois University
    MS Electrical Engineering

It is a state University in Illinois. Has got accredited programs in all engineering disciplines. Placed among top 150 research Universities. Has 400 student organizations to choose from.

    2. Montana State University
    MS Electrical Engineering

Land grant State University. Accredited program in engineering discipline. Scholarships available to incoming students.

As we collaborate with the Universities mentioned above, we can help you processing your applications. For this you can leave your details in the link provided below:

    Hello,

    Thanks for approaching Learnhub!

    Referring to your queries:

    1. MS vs MBA could be decided based on your work experience. If there has been a progression in your responsibilities in your entire tenure, MBA definitely could be though of.

    2. For GRE score around 1200 in old or 310 in new pattern would be competitive. in GMAT 650+ can help you land in a decent B-School. In TOEFL a score of 80 in iBt is must.

    3. As you have been working from past more than five years, a recommendation from current employer would do for admissions in Masters program. For MBA you can get all recommendations from your organizations you are working with or have already worked with.

    4. Sponsorship from US citizen can land you in trouble as it makes it explicit that you may have intentions to settle down in USA.

    5. Jobs are certainly there. But security is not guaranteed. A lot depends on your rapport with the employer.

Hope the above takes care of all your queries.

Keep in touch as we can help you in the admissions process once you are done with the standardized tests.

For any further concerns feel free to post your queries!

Hi i'm divya, pursuing b.tech final year CSE. I wanted to do MS in CS or in MIS in usa but before that i would like to go for job for one year and then go for MS. so suggest me which one is better , whether to do MS immediately after b.tech or else go for one year of work experience and then apply for MS .
1)Are there any advantages by going for MS with one year of work experience?
    2) I know that universities for MS do not consider work experience while giving the admissions but i wanted to know that if any priority given for the students with work experience during the MS program classes i.e might be preferred to give internships and assistantships rather than freshers?
    3) Does the companies give any preference when i attend for an interview after completion of my MS program with that one year work experience after b.tech
4)does the companies still take me as a fresher?
5)Is it worth of having one year work experience and then going for MS or is it a waste of time?
please reply to my questions as early as possible because i am being confused between both the issues(i.e whether going for MS with work experience or without work experience. Which is better? or does both of them imply the same and no priority given for work experience in any cases?) please reply to my quires and get me out of this confusion and finally get into a proper conclusion and make my carrier shine bright

    Hello Divya,

Thanks for writing to Learnhub for your queries!

There have been lot of students like you who hover between the choices of gaining experience before masters program and applying directly for a masters program.

The choice is simple. It firstly depends on the program you wish to apply for and secondly the relevance of work experience.

Considering the above two facts, in case you apply for MIS program many Universities prefer accepting students with prior work experience. Thus in such a case your work experience will help.

For Masters program on the other hand, although work experience is not required but this may help you to understand what specialization would be better for you or in other words you would be interested in.

Also one year of experience is not that long which can waste your time. But it can help take you in right direction.

While you apply with some experience in hand you will definitely get some sort of preference compared to freshers. But in case you are looking forward to take thesis based Masters program and/or PhD later on then work experience will not help much. In such a case applying directly after B.Tech would be beneficial.

I believe I have answered to most of your queries. You can keep in touch with with us for all necessary guidance in future.

As and when you plan to appear for the concerned standardized tests and ready to apply you can seek our expert advise in all admission related matters.

    Good Luck!

    Hello Anusha,

Your undergraduate aggregate scores are very good. If you manage to get good scores in GRE and TOEFL, your admission and financial assistance chances at your dream Universities would be strong.

For Masters in Electrical Engineering there are many specialization areas available. You should choose an area based on your interests or may be the projects you completed so far at bachelors level.

To give you an idea about the same, you can consider research areas such as Embedded Systems, VLSI, Signal Processing, Robotics, Microelectronics, Telecommunication etc.

You can share your interests with us for further suggestions on choosing out best possible Universities for the research area under consideration.

For scores you can refer to the following article which collates information on average GRE scores accepted at some of the top Universities:

    Hello Gautham,

    Thanks for approaching Learnhub!

Your academics have been good and so do your GRE scores. Considering all details you mentioned in the post above, Texas A&M College Station would be an ambitious choice.

Similarly ETH Zurich and Purdue will also be ambitious but worth trying. Arizona State would be a moderately ambitious University for your profile.

Moving ahead kindly mention your individual section scores. This would help to assess admission chances better.

For further clarification, you can forward me the details at ankita.arora@learnhub.com

Keep in touch for all further admission related updates.

    Hello Devajeet,

Your have great scores in GRE. Congratulations for such high scores!

Your undergraduate aggregate percentage is a little low compared to GRE scores. Thus you need to make good choice while selecting Universities.

Choose more of moderately ambitious Universities rather than ambitious ones.

Admission chances are certainly there. For further suggestions on Universities you can consider your can forward me your resume at ankita.arora@learnhub.com

    Hi,

I completed my B.E (ECE) in 2011 with an aggregate of 69%.Currently working in IT field as a developer since august 2011. 1) Can u suggest me when should i go for MS..is it spring 2014 or fall 2014. 2) Which is the best course to take ,since i will be having 2.5 -3 yrs of work experience by the time i go to US .Is it MS or MIS?? Though i am really bad at managing things. 3) Will it be a problem to secure a job in US or scholarship to study ,after 3 yrs of work experience ??

Since i am graduated from Electronics background and had work experience in IT industry, will that effect my admissions there.??

    Hello Sanjay,

You can go ahead with your plans for a MS CS/MIS as you would have a substantial experience in the field by then.

In fact based on your work experience if you find MIS program relevant, you should opt to apply for the same. You will have strong admission chances with your experience in hand. Electronics background is not going to make much difference.

For admissions, Fall 2013 would close by April 2013. MIS program deadlines stretch a little more compared to other programs. If you have taken up GRE and TOEFL already, you can plan to apply for Fall 2013 as well.

Otherwise Spring 2014 is the next admission intake.

Hope this resolves all your queries.

@ Dipika Jain and Charu Malik…

I'm an Electrical Engineer working for (past 3years) as an Estimation Engineer in an Infrastructure Company at Delhi.

In the month of October, me and my Husband would be relocating to San Francisco as my husband has got a new job in a Software Company.

The hitch is, I would be on a dependent visa( as my husband's visa is H1B visa). I would want to know my options in U.S as in would I be able to easily secure a job in a company willing to change my dependent visa to working visa on my Past experience and Education (even though its from India) or do I have to go for higher studies inorder to have an American degree? Will my dependent Visa status cause any hindrance for furthur education? I would like to work in my field rather than go for higher studies but if I have to an MBA degree would be my first option.

    Please Advice.

    Hi,
I've already completed my Masters from CSU Sacramento and worked as an Intern for about 9 months on OPT (ending April 2013). I have now returned to India due to family reasons.

My question is that if I wish to apply again for a second masters, what happens to my currently existing OPT? Does it get void? Can I re-apply for OPT once I complete my second masters?

Also, the F1 visa I originally had is valid till 2015. Do I have to re-apply for visa if I get admitted to a school in US?
