For a lot of international students, studying in the US sounds like just going to some place in the US, it’s all the same.

But the reality is that the United States is a large country composed of over 50 states, and each one is distinct. Even the big names like New York, Boston and San Fransisco are vastly different from one another, so just think about how unique the small universities that are away from the big stuffy cities are.

Do you want to share your thought about where in the US would be the best place to study? Or maybe you’re looking to decide for yourself and need some help? Post it right here!

Salhan, you’re right, the United States is known for their advancements in technology and information. Academic institutions are known for their development and technology programs. You might be interested in checking out New England Institute of Technology. They offer many programs of study, and are leaders in technical career education.

The US is also a great place to gain work experience, especially now that the US govt. is offering 17-month extensions to to the normal one-year Optional Practical Training that most intl. students qualify for. There is quite a demand for Technology jobs, and most students I work with who are tech. majors go on to do quite well.

The US is a great place to study, and it’s easy to get around if you want to see a lot of it. Wherever you choose to go, be sure to get out and see as much as you can!

Hey pradeepdemi,

I’m not sure what level you are looking for but here are a few suggestions!

The British Columbia Institute of Technology offers a Diploma of Technology in Robotics and Automation:
http://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/7340diplt
This institute has a lot of great programs if you’re interested in technology.

The University of Toronto offers a graduate degree in Applied Mechanics, Robotics and Manufacturing. This is in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering faculty : http://www.mie.utoronto.ca/

The University of Waterloo also has an excellent Engineering faculty. There are various departments within this faculty. You should take a look at the various undergraduate and graduate programs they offer: http://www.engineering.uwaterloo.ca/departments.html
I would suggest Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Systems Design Engineering.

If you have any further inquiries please let me know.

Hi pradeepdemi,

It’s fairly easy to get a part-time job if you have the permit to do so. You can work for the campus doing various types of jobs. If you are an expert in computers you can help out with the “tech support” team on university residences. You can also work in retail or the food business – there are various shops and malls where you can do this. You could also work at a library, bookstore or at the student organization. There are a variety of different jobs which you can take on which will help finance your tuition, whether you will be studying in a small city or a large city.

Hi khushi_cbs! For an MBA or Master of Finance, I would suggest the following:

Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business offers an MBA program which focuses on a global context. In this program you can specialize in subjects such as Finance or International Business.

York University’s Schulich School of Business is ranked among the world’s Top 25 Executive MBA Programs. You can get an MBA or an IMBA (an International Master of Business Administration).

The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management offers an MBA program. It also offers a Master of Finance. There is even a collaborative program with the MBA for a concentration in Asia-Pacific Studies. You can visit the site here. The Two-Year (Full-Time) MBA class entering in 2007 average GMAT score was 660. The GMAT scores range from 550-780, but is only one factor in the application process.

Hope that helps!

Hi there Sandeep,

I’m glad to hear that your interested in pursuing a Master’s.

I am happy to help you with your school selection. Could I just please ask you to specify where you’d like to study? For example, are you looking to study in Canada, America or the United Kingdom?

When you provide a location, I’ll be able to suggest some schools that might be a good match for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!
