This is a very good question!

Yes, the United States is undergoing an economic recession and financial crisis, and this has implications on some aspects of education. The only 2 aspects affected are financial aid and working while studying. With less money around in the economy, financial aid may be hard to secure, and study loans are hard to get nowadays. And with the economy being what it is, hopes of working in the US while studying are low.

However, the excellent level of education in the US is likely to remain unaffected. Therefore, if you are able to finance your education, there really is no reason not to study in the US these days. Other countries like the UK and to some degree Canada are also undergoing some economic troubles. Going abroad for your education is always the right decision, as it will open up many opportunities in the future no matter the economic situation.

And of course, there’s always hope that the recession will end soon, and if that’s the case when you graduate from a course in the US you may be entering a recovering, booming economy. So don’t lose hope.

But if the recession doesn’t end soon then that means we have to choose for the alternatives present inside india. but again the no. of seats a indian univ. will provide is quite low and only a b.tech wont provide a very enlightened future as there are no jobs out here. so what will we do then?

    Dear tapas,

As oLahav said the recession will not have serious impacts neither on the quality of the education that US universities offer nor on the number of international students planning to pursue higher education. In fact these days most of the Indian students after B.Tech are opting to pursue higher education as there is a huge slump in the job offers back here in India. As you are aware some of the companies which provided campus placements one year back are now not in a position to keep up their words. Also most of the students are aware that countries like US and Canada are among the top placles to study abroad. Also, come out of the feeling that what happens if the situation in America doesn’t change. It is bound to change and Americans have proven it already. So don’t get into too much of pessimistic calculations. Instead gear up for your higher education.
